On video: Leader of the opposition and chairman of Yesh Atid Yair Lapid (Walla system!)
Opposition leader Yair Lapid today (Wednesday) called on Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai to ignore the minister in charge of him Itamar Ben Gabir after the latter ordered the police to prevent roadblocks during the demonstration against the legal revolution. "I call on the Police Commissioner to ignore the political, dangerous and irresponsible attempts
of Minister Ben Gabir to heat up the area even more. The demonstrators are Israeli patriots and the best fighters in the IDF," said Lapid. "They are fighting for the values of freedom, justice and democracy.
The role of the police is to allow them to express their opinion and fight for the country they serve and love."
At the same time, Ben Gvir published a statement in which he claimed that the demonstrators were violent towards the police officers and even threw stones at them. "Backs up the Israel Police officers for using measures to disperse the anarchists who rioted and tried Block the Ayalon routes," said the Minister of National Security.
"Throughout the morning the police were very patient with the anarchists, but from the moment they crossed all the borders, broke through barriers and threw them at the policemen, threw stones at the policemen and led to anarchy, the Israel Police must use all the means at its disposal to maintain public order and the routine of life of "Citizens of Israel. Freedom of speech and freedom of demonstration yes, anarchy - under no circumstances," added Ben Gabir.

Demonstrators against the legal reform have been protesting in dozens of centers across the country since the morning hours.
Besides demonstrations and marches, the protest organizations blocked roads and disrupted train traffic as part of what they defined as the "National Day of Disruption".
In the Ayalon Bat Laviv lanes, the demonstrators broke through barriers and policemen on horses were deployed there and began to evict them by force, using stun grenades.
"We didn't believe that the police would try to hurt us like this. The revolution has started and we need to wake up," said one of the protesters.
The protesters also reported injuries in their ranks.
The police also arrested protesters on Highway 1 on the suspicion that they were planning to set burning tires.
Demonstrators were arrested both at the Goma junction in the Galilee and at the Elishma interchange in Sharon.
The police said they arrested a protester in Haifa who attacked a police officer.
Because of the protests, the Knesset officer turned to the members of the Knesset and asked them to come to the Mishkan via Route 443. Among the groups participating in the demonstrations are Heitkists, farmers, doctors and students.
