On video: the confrontation between MK Ofer Kasif and the MGB fighters (documentation on social networks according to section 27a of the copyright law)
The Jerusalem District Attorney's Office announced this evening (Wednesday) that it will file an indictment subject to a hearing against Knesset member Ofer Kasif (Hadash) for assaulting a police officer under serious circumstances.
According to the announcement of the prosecutor's office, the attack took place in May 2022 during a demonstration in the south of Mount Hebron in protest of the Supreme Court's decision on the evacuation of villages in the area.
Ahead of the demonstration, traffic in the area was restricted by the security forces and parts of the area were declared a closed military area.

An argument developed between Kasif and a policeman who was on the scene over the approval of the MK's entry into the place with his car, at the end of which Kasif got into his car and started driving slowly until he hit the leg of a policeman who was blocking his way. In response, the policeman hit the hood of the MK's car and shouted at him .
After that, according to the suspicion, MK Kasif got out of his car and hit the policeman in the head.
The decision was made today by the prosecutor Gali Beharev Miara and the state attorney Amit Isman accepted it.
The decision comes on the same day that Miara authorized the police to investigate MK Zvika Fogel (Otzma Yehudit) on suspicion of instigating this, following his statement after disturbances in Hawara that he wanted to see Hawara burned down.
