Pension reform: the Senate leaves its mark

ANALYSIS – Unlike the deputies, the senators want to obtain a final vote on the whole of the text, which arrives this Thursday in the Hemicycle.


After two weeks of blockage and tumult in the National Assembly, the pension reform is arriving this Thursday in the Senate Chamber.

The President of the Upper House, Gérard Larcher, intends to show another image than the deputies, who concluded without a vote the first passage of the text: "I

The examination of the draft law should last eleven days.

First step taken on Tuesday: the senatorial majority dominated by the right largely approved, in the Social Affairs Committee, the government's ambition to postpone the legal age of departure to 64 years.

A modified version is however subject to discussion: several amendments proposed by the senators have been retained, in particular in favor of mothers and the employment of seniors.

These achievements will have to be adopted again in session to integrate the bill, as required by the rule applicable to all texts...
