Mando and Grogu, the Baby Yoda, were made to wait.
The last episode of The
Mandalorian
Season 2 had been seen in December 2020. And there were high expectations surrounding the best
Star Wars
spin-off series Lucasfilm has ever made.
The wait ended today, with the airing of the first episode of Season 3, or Chapter 17, whichever you prefer to call it.
The credit is still open.
And more.
Grogu returned with Mando (Pedro Pascal, from "The Last of Us").

The summary of
The Mandalorian
with which this season opens (
El expósito
) indicates a challenge -another one- for Din Djarin (Mando, for friends, played by the Chilean nationalized American
Pedro Pascal
, the one from
The Last of Us
).
He is no longer a Mandalorian, having removed his helmet.
How to redeem yourself, achieve redemption?
The presentation is already auspicious.
A young man is about to be fitted with his Mandalorian helmet for the first time, but he doesn't get to finish his oath to "I will never take off my helmet...", when a strange creature emerges from the sea and attacks everyone.
Who comes to save them?
Mando and Grogu, in their spaceship.
The first season of
The Mandalorian
took place just a few years after the end of
Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
.
Mando meets Greef Karga (Carl Weathers, Apollo Creed in the "Rocky" saga) on his way to redemption.
And for those who stuck with the season two finale, something is missing if you haven't seen
The Book of Boba Fett
.
It is that Mando completed his mission (he delivered Grogu to Luke Skywalker, that is, to the Jedis, in the last chapter of season 2), but Grogu returned to him.
Why he is coming back and if he finished his indoctrination or training with the Jedi, well, that has to be seen in The
Book of Boba Fett
series ...
In the present, if Mando travels to the planet Mandalore, where everything had been destroyed in the Purge, and which is predictably poisoning, and gets proof that he was able to bathe in the living waters under Mandalore's mines, well, according to the Creed, the decree of exile will be lifted and Mando will be redeemed.
The first episode of this season begins with revelations and lots of action.
And as "The road is like this"...
With his sights set on returning to Mandalore, Mando heads to Port of Nevarro, where he meets Greef Karga (Carl Weathers, Apollo Creed in the Rocky saga
)
, who has become Magistrate Karga.
"I need a commissioner," he tells the newcomer.
And there comes the explanation of why Commissioner Dune (Gina Carano, fired from her for some comments she made on her social networks), who captured Moff Gideon, and was recruited by the Special Forces, does not continue in the series.
With the helmet removed, nothing will be the same for Din Djarin (Mando, for friends).
He needs the IG-11 (the droid that had been destroyed, slain, remember?): he needs a trusted droid to help him explore Mandalore.
But...
strengthened relationship
The adoptive father-son relationship is strengthened.
Mando and Grogu have already experienced all kinds of adventures and overcome threats, from monsters and other specimens, and they have survived.
Grogu continues to express himself by lowering his little ears, and Mando is frugal, but empathetic.
In the 37 minutes that the episode lasts there are blaster duels, chases, tiny characters, travel through hyper space, and there is also the music of Ludwig Göransson.
Mando and Grogu must make several trips in hyperspace to see each other again with various returning characters in Season 3.
There are 8 chapters, the same amount as the other previous seasons, and it will be released, one per week, every Wednesday, so the end of this third season (it has already been announced that there will be a fourth) will be on Wednesday, April 19.
Much remains to be discovered, and enjoyed, until then.
