Sources in Torah Judaism: "If agreements are not respected, we are not committed to the coalition" | Israel today

Difficulty after difficulty in the new Netanyahu government • After Mouz has now resigned, Parosh is threatening to do so • Even Torah Judaism and Otzma Yehudi are frustrated • Smotrich: "The threats are dangerous" • Prime Minister in response: "The government will fulfill its days"

Coalitions do not fall apart because of the moves of the opposition, but collapse into themselves - this is a well-known sentence in the political system.

Although this government is not collapsing yet, and there will be those who will argue that it is only a case of birth defects and that it is too early to declare it sick, but within two months the government - perhaps the homogeneous one we have known in recent years - has managed to develop negative symptoms that turn on red lights in the political system.

There is a rule of thumb that applies to any coalition whatsoever: as soon as ministers begin to resign from the government and declare freedom of vote due to laws that are internally disputed - this is the beginning of a negative political dynamic, which may turn into a rolling snowball of crises.

These two symptoms are starting to hit the young right-wing government.

Attack from seven fronts

Netanyahu is currently under attack from seven different fronts - from within and without.

Besides the wave of terrorism, the high cost of living and the protest in the streets, the Prime Minister also received three blows from home.

Yesterday, the Minister of Jerusalem and Tradition, Meir Parosh from the Israel Association, announced that he is resigning from his position as the person responsible for the Miron revelry, and that he is considering resigning altogether from his position as a minister in the government.

This is the second resignation within a day, after Avi Maoz from the Noam party resigned from his position as deputy minister on the grounds that what was promised to him in the coalition agreements was not being fulfilled - as published on the Israel Hayom website on Monday evening.

Forosh's main claim is that, contrary to what was agreed in the coalition agreements, he fails to exercise his responsibility and exclusive authority over Miron's revelry.

The reason: the Center for the Holy Places insists that the producer of the Miron revelry be under its authority.

Proosh refuses to split powers and emphasizes that beyond the fact that this is a contradiction to the signed agreements, it is also a violation of the conclusions of the "Miron Disaster" committee.

Close associates of Minister Forosh say: "If Netanyahu does not succeed in arranging to retire the powers, he will not remain in the government."

Without coalition discipline?

But, as mentioned, Parosh and Mouz are not the only ones who talk about the non-fulfillment of promises on Netanyahu's part.

In Torah Judaism, they are very angry with him because, in their eyes, he does not comply with the summaries regarding the budgets for subsidizing ultra-orthodox Torah Talmuds and public transportation.

Officials in the faction attacked the prime minister and said: "Balikud thinks that the coalition commitment is unilateral, so it is not. If they do not honor agreements, we are not committed to the coalition. They have a majority even without us, which they will enjoy. We will not allow them to harm the ultra-Orthodox public."

There were also senior officials who exaggerated and said: "Netanyahu didn't learn anything from the time he was in the opposition. He promised everyone things, and now he's not keeping them. That's not how partners behave."

On another front that Netanyahu is facing is Itamar Ben Gabir.

Otzma Yehudit does not like his security conduct and is angry about "lack of partnership" after he did not inform them in advance of the security-political summit that took place this week with the Palestinians in Jordan.

Today, a death penalty law for Ben Gabir's terrorists is expected to go up for preliminary reading, and Likud is considering allowing freedom of vote for Torah Judaism, which does not support the proposal for halachic reasons and wishes to abstain.

Otzma Yehudit considers such a violation of the coalition's discipline on a law that was already agreed upon during the negotiations on the formation of a government to be serious.

"dangerous conduct"

Netanyahu said last night: "We established a strong right-wing government and it will live out its days."

The Prime Minister is aware of the crises around him and is trying to solve them.

Netanyahu's office spoke with Avi Maoz, whose resignation will only take effect this evening, and are trying to convince him to retract it.

Netanyahu also met with the Chairman of the Finance Committee Moshe Gafni and with the Deputy Minister for Development and Ultra-Orthodox Transportation, Uri Makleb of Degal HaTorah, about the budget issues, and promised to return an answer to them within 24 hours. A meeting was also held with Ben Gabir, the aim of which was to lower the level of the flames. More Netanyahu can put out the fires and it does not seem at the moment that the government will fall apart, but it is clear to everyone that such phenomena should not have developed at such an early stage of the term.

A senior official in the coalition said: "The financial differences are small and will be resolved in the next two days. All parties made it clear that they do not intend to dismantle the right-wing government."

The Chairman of Religious Zionism, Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich: "It is clear to me that none of the members who issue ultimatums and send letters of resignation are thinking of overthrowing the government and do not want to destabilize it, and perhaps they allow themselves to do so precisely because of the stability of the government - but it is dangerous and not in charge of".
