Kris Chari
didn't expect breakfast on her seven-hour flight to Japan to be
a measly plated banana
.
The Japan Airlines
business class passenger
told the story of him in an online forum and everything got out of hand.
The outrage over the dish was both from the passenger and from most Internet users, who laughed on social media at the lavish presentation of the airline's simple vegan menu.
Chari received a banana on a plate with beautiful cutlery and chopsticks
, which undoubtedly caught her attention and even amused her.
“Before today's takeoff my flight attendant confirmed that I ordered VGML and my breakfast was a banana, so I wrongly assumed she meant breakfast included a banana,” Kris wrote on the FlyerTalk travel forum Feb. 21.

"When he served the banana after takeoff I thought it was just a disappointing appetizer, but in fact it was the entire meal service!" explained the man who was flying from Jakarta, Indonesia, to the Japanese capital.
Immediately after the banana arrived, Kris told a steward he was "
quite surprised
" by the simplicity of the dish, to which the employee didn't have much more to say.
Anyway it was a good dish
Despite the diner's disappointment, the banana was “
really good
”.
In fact, Chari considered it "one of the best" she's had recently.
The vegan menu that Japan Airlines would promote.
"
It's a bit insulting to be served a single banana
while others are given a much more substantial and flavorful menu," he told Insider, adding: "It seems especially important given the growth in the number of vegans and vegetarians."
Also in conversation with Insider, a representative of the airline apologized to the passenger "
for not being able to meet expectations
."
It is worth clarifying that the airline menu consisted of two dishes, one for breakfast and the other for lunch, both for vegans and carnivores.
Now many may wonder how the vegan lunch menu was.
Chari described it as “
barely seasoned spaghetti
”, though he admitted it was much better than the “flavored” plated up banana.

The airline's non-vegan options included grilled beef tenderloin, ratatouille cheese omelet, grilled salmon, and chicken sausage.
A rib on the plane
In recent days, the story of Lanna Tolland, from Glasgow, Scotland, who found herself in the middle of a global fight over food after she downloaded the experience she had on board a flight on her Twitter account, has also emerged.
Lanna Tolland made her photo go viral by sharing it on social media.
The woman was trapped on a plane full of people along with a passenger who had no better idea -or delusional idea- than to eat
a whole pork rib on the barbecue, with French fries and corn bread and eggs
, which he neatly took to his seat inside a huge pizza box.
"There's no chance this guy will eat a whole rack of racks on this plane," Tolland said, furious, providing damning photographic evidence. She posted that on her Twitter account, and the birdie's social network blew up to the point that the image It already has more than 5,500,000 visits.
