Spanish sport is mourning the death of
Pelayo Novo
, 32, who was hit by a train on Tuesday in the
La Corredoria
neighborhood in
Oviedo
.
After surviving a fall from the third floor of a hotel in 2018, he had hung up his boots and became a wheelchair tennis player.
The tragic episode happened shortly before 8:00 p.m. this Tuesday, near the La Malata park, in that Asturian city.
For reasons that are still under investigation, he was hit by a train on the Renfe line, which runs from Oviedo to Siero.
After the emergency number 112 Asturias received a call at 7:55 p.m., personnel from the Urgent Medical Care Service (SAMU) and the National Police went to the scene of the accident, where they found Novo without vital
signs
.
The episode occurred at the height of La Malata park, in the city of Oviedo.
The former soccer player, who played between 2012 and 2018 more than 200 games in clubs of the Spanish promotion such as Real Oviedo, Córdoba, Elche, Lugo, Cluj and Albacete,
had married
his partner, Iciar López, only eight months ago.
