With hearts filled with passion for humanitarian work, and out of patriotic duty, the two young men, Anas Sayed Suleiman and Muhammad Firas Muhammad Bashar Ramadan, rushed to help the afflicted after the devastating earthquake that struck Syria on the sixth of last February.

Anas, a fifth-year dental student at the University of Hama, told SANA Youth Bulletin: “Since the first hours of the earthquake, I started with the (Aqeha) volunteer team in Damascus to collect what was available of winter clothes, blankets, medicines and canned food, to fill up a small car and send it to the stricken governorates, but the amount of love The eagerness that we felt among the people exceeded expectations, as the center in the Al-Afif area received thousands of people, loaded with what they could carry to donate.

He pointed out that the large numbers did not allow chaos to permeate between them, but rather they all worked as volunteers and donors in one organization similar to a beehive tirelessly, while the rush of young children accompanied by heavy bags and their involvement hand in hand with work constituted the most affecting scenes for us.

Anas confirmed the arrival of a large number of people to help in a scene that was repeated daily with the same momentum, as the team, with its members and volunteers, was able to send 77 food and relief trucks loaded with more than 500 tons to Aleppo, Jableh, Lattakia, Hama and Masyaf.

Anas noted the importance of voluntary work in promoting community solidarity and consolidating feelings of solidarity among its members, as he started this field by writing lectures for students for free through one of the volunteer teams in the college, then spreading awareness with the electronic dentistry student lens team during the Corona epidemic period, and finally as a field volunteer with a team (His sterility) in an atmosphere of intimacy and harmony, which is what transformed the small car into an aid convoy, so that the aid would reach the hand of the donor to the hand of the affected in all sincerity and transparency.

As for his friend Firas, 26 years old, a student in the College of Science, Department of Microbiology, and the Institute of Computer Engineering, he put aside the books and lectures, and replaced them with the help of the team, despite the amount of pain and grief over the people who lost everything they had, taking advantage of every minute to receive, organize, sort, wrap, and record the donations. And numbering them, and then helping to carry them to fill the trucks.

Firas pointed out the most beautiful situations that they faced when the team needed help to fill the truck after midnight and in a very cold weather. A man and his 16-year-old daughter answered the call, insisting on helping with their hands, and they worked with all activity and joy.

Firas, who entered the world of volunteering as part of the (Syar) team, pointed out that he, like other volunteers, prayed day and night in order to help those affected, stressing that Syria is able to overcome all difficulties with the solidarity of all its people.
