Weather: rain returns to France next week

The cold will also increase from next Monday. Snow could fall to the plain on two thirds of the hexagon.

The rain will (finally) return to France from this weekend.

While France has been experiencing an “anticyclonic blockage situation” since the end of January, which forces the disturbances to bypass the country, a disturbance will arrive by the North Sea on Sunday, indicates the Weather Channel *.

This disturbance will

“generate a very cloudy then gray sky over the northern half with some precipitation on Sunday north of the Seine, see some snow showers”,

specifies Pascal Scaviner, head of the forecast service for the Weather Channel.

Chance of snow

However, the mildness will have to wait because the cold will increase from next Monday.

“The air mass will become unstable in relation to the establishment of a low pressure system which will extend from Russia to Western Europe, within which several depressions and more or less active disturbances will circulate on the 'hexagon',

notes Pascal Scaviner.

Snow could also fall to the plain and this, on two thirds of the country.

A risk which is assessed by the Weather Channel at 70% in the northeast quarter and 40% in the northwest and central regions.

Next Wednesday could serve as a transition before milder temperatures next weekend.

While the record of 32 consecutive days without rain was broken between January and February, this precipitation is seen as good news.

"By their duration, they could mark a temporary brake on the surface drought in many regions of the northern half",

notes Pascal Scaviner.

One caveat, however: there will be no improvement in the general state of groundwater.

“In addition, these precipitations will arrive at the same time as a rise in temperatures and with a lengthening of the length of the day which continues, evaporation will therefore be even more facilitated.

The drought will therefore remain relevant, especially in the southern regions, which are the most permanently affected”

, warns the Weather Channel again.
