According to reports, dramatic scenes must have taken place on board an Airbus on the way from Austin/Texas to Frankfurt.
What happened?
An Airbus A330-300 was "in free fall" during heavy turbulence
on the flight from the metropolis in the southern United States to Frankfurt, according to a passenger told the
Washington Post .
Around three and a half hours after take-off, the Lufthansa plane made an unscheduled landing in Washington on Wednesday evening (March 1).

This was preceded by unexpected turbulence over Tennessee about 90 minutes after the start, as the crew reported.
A Lufthansa spokesman told Hessenschau
that
it was clear air turbulence.
These could occur without visible weather phenomena and advance warning.
According to Lufthansa, several people were injured during the turbulence.
According to airport operator Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority, seven people were transported to a clinic, The

It is not known whether there were other injuries.

Food and people flew through the plane, passengers suffered bleeding wounds after crashing into the ceiling.
A person in the front rows was "seriously injured".
As the passenger reported to the Washington Post, Lufthansa paid for a hotel and a taxi, but did not provide any other compensation.
