A 6-year-old boy was shot and wounded by another 4-year-old child in an indigenous community in the Canadian province of Manitoba, in the center of the country, federal police announced on Thursday March 2.
The two children were at a residence in the Peguis First Nation, about 185 km north of Winnipeg, on Monday evening when
"they had access to a firearm
," the Royal Canadian Mounted Police statement said.
“The 4-year-old child discharged the firearm, and a 6-year-old child was hit,”
she adds, specifying that the vital prognosis of the victim, who was transported to the hospital, was not engaged.
A man has been arrested and faces a charge for illegal possession of firearms.
Five firearms, a crossbow and ammunition were seized by the police at the scene of the tragedy.
