After threatening to boycott the next meeting of the municipal council, postponed by a day because of the March 7 strike, the two main municipal opposition groups, Bordeaux Ensemble and Renouveau Bordeaux, confirmed to Le Figaro that they
would
not not attend the next meeting, scheduled for March 8.
The ecologist Pierre Hurmic had sent a letter to elected officials on February 22, justifying this 24-hour shift by the desire to avoid "
any risk of last-minute cancellation
", because of a mobilization "
likely to be particularly strong"
and which would expose "
to risks of disruption the good behavior
" of the municipal council.
Nicolas Florian (Les Républicains) and Thomas Cazenave (Renaissance) then responded with one voice to denounce this “
last minute change
”, which would testify to a desire to “
serve the comfort
” of the municipal majority.
For the two elected opposition members, it was out of the question to accept a postponement justified by the
from the mayor of Bordeaux.

The Bordeaux Ensemble group had already criticized the environmentalist majority in January for wanting to increase taxes and postpone the vote on the city's budget.
On February 28, the Finance Committee, due to the absence of several elected members of the majority during the vote, also voted symbolically against the decision of the town hall of Bordeaux to increase the property tax by 4.53% in 2023. A measure which will not be followed by effects, but which testifies to an increasingly electric atmosphere between the elected officials of the city.
