Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that the focus of Western countries during the meeting of foreign ministers of the Group of Twenty in India on positions that do not reflect the reality of the situation regarding the Ukrainian crisis prevented agreement on a final statement for the meeting.
Lavrov said during a press conference today at the end of the meeting in New Delhi: The G-20 is supposed to be an arena for a frank dialogue between all parties, but unfortunately it was not possible to agree on a final declaration, because the foreign ministers of Western countries insisted, as happened a year ago, through various speeches. To put the Ukrainian crisis at the forefront of concerns, which they want to call “Russian aggression.”
Lavrov explained that the West insisted on reproducing the text on the situation on Ukraine that was agreed upon at the G-20 summit last year in Indonesia, completely ignoring the evidence provided by Moscow that many events have occurred since then, including the confessions of former German Chancellor Anguilla Merkel. And former French President Francois Hollande, former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and current President Vladimir Zelensky said that none of them would fulfill the Minsk agreements, and the purpose of signing them from the point of view of Western interests is to buy more time to supply Ukraine with arms and prepare it for a war against Russia, which was categorically refused by the foreign ministers. .
Lavrov reaffirmed that Russia does not reject serious proposals for talks on Ukraine, and said: With regard to helping to resolve the crisis, we have repeatedly said publicly that we never reject serious proposals that are presented out of a sincere desire to find a political solution, and we have invited more than once. To conduct negotiations, but we do not remember that anyone from the West or other countries called on Ukraine to negotiate, and there is one fact that Ukraine was prepared to continue the war against Russia.
Lavrov pointed out that the foreign ministers of Western countries also refused to include Russia's proposal in the final statement of the group regarding the necessity of conducting an impartial and honest investigation into the terrorist attack that targeted the Nord Stream pipeline.
Regarding the visit of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to the countries of Central Asia, Lavrov said: We are now witnessing increased activity not only by the Americans, but also by the Europeans and the British in developing countries, especially in the CIS countries. They have the same goal and they do not hide that they are working there to push these countries. To give up maintaining good relations with Russia.
