An investigation was opened after the complaint of a teacher from a high school in Epernay (Marne), threatened in an anonymous letter received at her home, we learned Thursday, March 2 from the prosecution of Châlons-en- Champagne and the rectorate.
This investigation "
was carried out for threats of crimes or aggravated offenses against a person in charge of a public service mission
", specified to AFP the prosecutor of Châlons-en-Champagne, Ombeline Mahuzier, confirming information from the 'Union.
Threat “taken very seriously”
This case comes a few days after the murder of a Spanish teacher in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques which upset the French educational community and a little more than two years after the assassination of another teacher, Samuel Paty, beheaded by a young radicalized Islamist.

Any threat to a teacher is taken very seriously
,” insisted Ms. Mahuzier, specifying that its author was liable to a three-year prison sentence and a 45,000 euro fine.
The teacher was heard and a psychological and medical examination ordered.
Contacted by AFP, the rectorate of the Reims academy "
strongly condemns this revolting and unacceptable act
" and specifies that "
the teacher benefits from functional protection
", offering her legal assistance in particular.

No reason, no motivation can justify such an act vis-à-vis a teacher, who, with passion and commitment, exercises his profession
", reacted the president of the Grand Est regional council, Franck Leroy, in a communicated.
