The CEO and owner of Tesla, Elon Musk, confirmed this Wednesday that the electric vehicle manufacturer will build an assembly plant in the Mexican town of Monterrey, in the state of Nuevo León, whose governor, Samuel García, believes it will generate up to 35,000 jobs, according to the Efe news agency.
"Between direct and indirect, 35,000 much better paid jobs are expected than the average we already have in Nuevo León today," García said Wednesday on his social networks.
The Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, had advanced on Tuesday the arrival of Tesla in Mexico after 14 months of negotiations.
Tesla will invest $5 billion to produce up to one million electric vehicles at the plant, which will be key to reaching Tesla's annual goal of 20 million.

The factory, which will be installed in the municipality of Santa Catarina, will be the first for Tesla car production in Latin America and the fifth in the world, after those that already operate in Fremont and Austin (United States), Shanghai (China) and Berlin (Germany).
