Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova attributed the failure to hold a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his US counterpart Anthony Blinken on the sidelines of a meeting of foreign ministers of the G-20 countries in India, to Washington's encouragement of escalation of conflicts in the world and distancing of diplomacy.
Zakharova said in a statement today, according to RIA Novosti: “The position of the United States was clearly defined a long time ago, it supports the escalation of conflicts around the world and has excluded diplomacy, and simply destruction is the logic of American foreign policy.”
Today, a meeting of the foreign ministers of the G20 countries is being held in India, while Lavrov held bilateral meetings yesterday in New Delhi with his Indian, Turkish and Brazilian counterparts, and he is scheduled to meet with his Chinese counterpart, Chen Jang.
