"I would have thrown him out of the plane": the US ambassador to Israel in the attack against Smotrich | Israel Hayom

2023-03-03T18:59:52.341Z

Tom Naides sharply disavowed Smotrich's words this week after disturbances in Hvara according to which "it is a village that must be wiped out" • "Really angry with him, he is a fool", said the ambassador • They also condemned in Saudi Arabia: "shocked by the inciting statements of extremists in the government"

Continues to get into trouble:

After Smotrich said this week after disturbances in Hawara that "this is a village that must be wiped out", the US ambassador to Israel, Tom Neides, expressed his anger at the things. "I am really angry with him, he is stupid.

He has a flight to Washington with Danny Neve and if I could I would throw him off the plane," he said.

This is not the first involvement of Smotrich following the current statement.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price on Wednesday attacked the Minister of Finance and called on Netanyahu and other Israeli officials to condemn these statements.

According to Price, the statements are "repulsive, inappropriate and amount to incitement to violence".

"They came to kill, they had fire in their eyes."

The comments come as mentioned after Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich "liked" a tweet by the deputy head of the Shomron Regional Council, who called for Havara to be deleted, hours before riots settle there.

Smotrich refused to apologize for the like, saying at the De Marker conference: "Why did I like the tweet? Because I think the village of Hvara should be deleted."

However, he clarified that "the state is the one that should erase Hvara".

They are also angry in the Middle East

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a sharp condemnation today, shocked by Minister Smotritz's words: "The kingdom strongly condemns the extreme statement of one of the senior Israeli government officials who called for Hawara to be wiped out.

The ministry emphasized the Kingdom's absolute opposition to racist and irresponsible statements that reflect the extent of the violence and extremism of the occupying Israeli entity towards the Palestinian people.

We call on the international community to act as a deterrent, stop the escalation and provide protection to the Palestinians."

Earlier this morning, Egypt issued a strong condemnation of Smotrich's words, claiming that "these statements express a dangerous and unacceptable incitement to violence, which contradicts all laws and moral values. The statements are devoid of responsibility that should be held by any senior official engaged in an official position."

This condemnation joins the condemnations also published by the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan against the words of the Minister of Finance, which followed the attack in Hawara and the disturbances that took place in the village afterwards. Thus, for example, in the Emirati statement it was stated that these were racist statements.
