A viewer asked Keller if he hesitated in accepting the role because the role of Dr.

Kahnweiler is not as smart and clever as that of Dr.

Martin Gruber (played by Hans Sigl).

"The opposite was the case," says Mark Keller.

Mark Keller created his own character to play Dr.

Alexander Kahnweiler

“In terms of structure, Kahnweiler was only supposed to be the opponent of Gruber.

He spoke like Hans Sigl, was competent and everything," explains Keller.

When Hans Sigl and Mark Keller read the planned role in the script, they didn't think both actors were right.

The roles were too similar.

It would be much better if Dr.

Kahnweiler would be "different" than Martin Gruber.

So Keller suggested his specially created, special voice, which he uses to read a self-written fairy tale to his children.

Then Keller said to the director: "But if I arrange the role in such a way that the guy has a gossip," Kahnweiler would suddenly have a very own, different character than Martin Gruber.

"And that was the recipe for this role," remembers Keller on ZDF.
