A man accused of stabbing a 10-year-old Dutch girl and her grandmother in Gothenburg, Sweden was remanded in custody on Friday, the prosecutor handling the case said.
The 36-year-old suspect, already known to the police but with no established link to the young victim, was remanded in custody on Friday afternoon for "
attempted murder

" condition, police said.

The alleged perpetrator was arrested at the scene shortly after stabbing the victim.
A group of young passersby managed to tackle the aggressor to the ground until the arrival of the police.
The events took place in broad daylight Thursday around 12:35 p.m. local time (11:35 a.m. Paris time) in Brunnsparken, a park in the center of Sweden's second largest city.
The suspect, who was heard, neither denied nor admitted the facts, according to the prosecution.
At this stage, there is no indication that the attacker knew his victims, according to Swedish police and the motive for the attack remains unknown for the moment.
