According to this, the integrated control center in Passau received an emergency call at around 2:36 p.m., which reported that there had been a collision between a regional train and a pedestrian at the level crossing in the Mahlgassing district.
According to the current state of investigation, an elderly woman crossed the unrestricted level crossing from Passauer Straße in the direction of Mahlgassing.
She was hit by a passing regional train and fatally injured.
The train driver and nine passengers were on the train, all of whom were not physically injured.
They were cared for on site by the BRK and a crisis intervention team.
The onward journey was organized by the railway.

Railway line closed for hours after accident
The area was cordoned off by the local fire department.
According to the police press release, the railway line was completely closed to train traffic for several hours.
After the exact circumstances of the accident are still unclear, the further investigations were taken over by the Passau criminal police.
The fire brigades were on site with a total of 25 emergency services, the rescue service with nine and the police with several patrols.
An emergency manager from Deutsche Bahn and a team of technicians were also at the scene of the accident.
