The Association of the Martyr Kamal Nasr Al-Gharbia of the Revolutionary Youth Union, and the municipal councils of Rima Al-Lahf and Walga in As-Suwayda, organized two afforestation campaigns today, with the participation of civil and youth activities.
The two campaigns included the planting of a variety of forest trees, including cypress, pine and eucalyptus, at the main entrance to the village of Raymah al-Lahf and in the cemetery area in the village of Walga, which were provided free of charge by the Forestry Department of the Directorate of Agriculture.
Karim Hamza, Secretary of the Western Association of the Revolutionary Youth Union, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter during his participation in the Walga village campaign, that these campaigns are part of a plan for afforestation that started from the villages of al-Majdal and Rimah Hazem to reach the villages of Rimah al-Lahf and Walga today, with the aim of increasing the green areas and responding to everyone who cuts trees. .
While a member of the leadership of the Association, Yasmine Abu Fakhr, pointed out the importance of afforestation campaigns to perpetuate and promote a culture of volunteer work.
In turn, the head of the Raymah al-Lahf Municipal Council, Osama Abu Fakhr, stated that the campaign aimed to encourage tree planting and give an aesthetic character to the entrance of the village, indicating that it is in line with the council's recent distribution of 1,000 saplings for free to schools and families to plant them after they were harvested from the Agriculture Directorate.
