Twelve people were indicted, including nine imprisoned, after the anti-drug operation carried out Monday in the sensitive district of Planoise, the scene of a turf war between dealers, announced Friday evening March 3 the Specialized Interregional Court (JIRS) from Nancy.
This vast operation had made it possible to arrest
“in Besançon, in various communes of Doubs, in Troyes and in the Paris region”
a total of
“25 people”
, indicates the JIRS in a press release.
“The searches corroborated, by the discovery of drugs, weapons and ammunition, the facts of drug trafficking and criminal association”
, continues the court.
“At the end of police custody, twelve people, aged 18 to 29, were (...) indicted for (...) attempted murder in an organized gang, participation in a criminal association, possession of weapons and trafficking in narcotics”
, explains the JIRS.
“Of these twelve people, nine were remanded in custody and three under judicial supervision
,” she said.
Violent settling of accounts
More than 200 police officers had been mobilized Monday in Besançon in this vast dragnet.
Six research and intervention brigades (BRI), from Paris, Versailles, Dijon, Metz or Strasbourg also took part in the operation, supported by the Raid de Lyon and Strasbourg branches as well as dog teams from the zonal direction of public security East, had indicated the zonal Directorate of the East judicial police.
“A CRS force”
had also been mobilized to ensure the security of the operation, it was added.
The city of Besançon has been the scene of several violent settling of accounts in recent years in the Planoise district, to the south-west of the city, where rival gangs clash against a backdrop of drug trafficking.
At the end of December, two shootings had left one dead in the same neighborhood.
And between November 2019 and March 2020, rival gangs clashed for control of drug trafficking in this Republican reconquest district (QRR): 18 shootings left one dead and 11 injured.
