Eging am See/British Columbia – The vacation in Canada ended in tragedy for four men from Bavaria on Wednesday, March 1: Three of the four vacationers from Eging am See in Lower Bavaria, Passau district, died in an avalanche accident.

Only one of the men survived.

The avalanche accident in Canada is a shock for the small community of Eging am See - and it is the second in a very short time.

A man from Eging died in the bus accident in Schladming.

Now the drama in Canada.

According to BR, the casualties are a 57-year-old hospital boss, his 34-year-old brother-in-law and a 57-year-old family friend.

All three are known and appreciated in the spa community.

Only the 25-year-old son of the hospital boss survived the accident.

Overall, the exact course of the avalanche drama in Canada has not yet been fully clarified.

The BR reports that the Bavarian investigative authorities are in close contact with the Canadian authorities.

The Foreign Office is also involved.

The only survivor received heliskiing as a bachelor's degree

According to BR, the background to the accident is a gift that the 25-year-old son of the head of the clinic received for passing his bachelor's degree at the university.

The group of four and five other skiers left for Canada at the beginning of the week.

The destination was the Rocky Mountains in British Columbia – for heli-skiing.

A helicopter drops the skiers on the mountain and they drive down an untouched route into the valley - a tour that is not without its dangers.

The BR report then states that an avalanche spilled the four men around 12 noon on Wednesday.

You have just been on a tour of the Banff Lake Louise National Park region.

The surviving 25-year-old is therefore in the hospital, he has suffered shoulder and head injuries.

The mayor of Eging am See reports to the BR that he and the community would now support the family in every respect and try to comfort them.
