Schwaig: Logistician Group7 triples its area

It was the first company to apply for space in a public meeting of the municipal council as part of the expansion of the commercial area in the east of Schwaig.

And it is the first company that has now officially received a contract from the municipality of Oberding: According to a press release from the municipality of Oberding, the logistics service provider Group7 is acquiring 102,000 square meters of building land.

Schwaig – This means that the wishes expressed by Management Board member Günther Jocher and Klaus Spielmann, Head of Corporate Development at Group7, when the plans were presented at a municipal council meeting in July 2020, are being fulfilled.

Even then, there was talk of ten hectares.

And also of 210 new jobs that the expansion of the company headquarters – there are nine locations across Germany – is expected to bring with it.

This means that the current number of employees has almost doubled.

The deal with the municipality even triples the area covered by the company.

Group7 has been based in Schwaig since 2009.

Overall, the municipality is expanding the business in a large special area on Eichenstraße to 198,000 square meters, i.e. almost 20 hectares.

A good half of this goes to Group 7. The company is planning a modern service center including an administration building.

According to the announcement, the construction will be carried out according to ecological aspects.

It is "sustainable and future-oriented".

The photovoltaic system planned for the roof of the building will generate an output of 750 kilowatts peak (kWp).

According to the statement, the electricity generated in this way corresponds roughly to the annual consumption of 100 households.

At the presentation two and a half years ago, Jocher and Spielmann spoke, among other things, of an office complex, a campus with lots of greenery, and company housing for employees.

But the plans have changed significantly since then, as Spielmann reported to our newspaper on Thursday when asked.

Together with the community, they wanted to inform the public about the purchase of the property.

What exactly is being built, how much money is Group7 investing, what is the construction schedule?

Spielmann announced that there should be “reasonable details” in two months.

Group7's application was the kick-off for a regular company casting, which was also fueled by the reporting in our newspaper.

Again and again, companies and small business owners who applied for space, even Rolls-Royce, presented themselves to the municipal council.

After Group7, the next purchase contracts will be concluded in the next few days, according to the town hall.

It's a lucrative business for the community.

She expects a total of 43 million euros in income from property sales in the east of Schwaiger this year.

However, 15 million still have to be spent on land acquisition there.
