Despite his promises to governance, the last few days prove that the Prime Minister fails to control his government and acts against his own interests. While he wants to calm the security front and the protest against the legal revolution, his allies whistle at his word

The following is a casual review of some of the events of the last week in the government: It opened on Sunday, when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a senior delegation led by the head of the National Assembly Tzachi Hanegbi and the head of the Shin Bet Ronen Bar to an unusual political summit in Jordan, with the aim of calming the security escalation and the Palestinian territory before the month of Ramadan.

Shortly after the understandings reached at the summit were published, Netanyahu's two senior partners in the coalition announced publicly that they were renouncing them.

"There will be no freeze on construction and development in the settlement, not even for one day," tweeted Finance Minister Bezalel Smotritz.

"What happened in Jordan, stays in Jordan," added Otzma Yehudit Chairman Itamar Ben Gvir. The Prime Minister's delegation has not even landed yet - and his coalition has made it clear that as far as it is concerned - a word is not a word.

A few hours later, at the Hawara intersection, a group of lawless hill boys went on a rampage and barbarically attacked Palestinians, in revenge for the terrible attack in which Hillel Weigal Yaniv was murdered that day.

The Prime Minister, the President of the State Yitzhak Herzog and the Minister of Defense Yoav Galant all came out with a plea not to take the law into their own hands in an effort to calm the decree and curb the international astonishment at the harsh scenes in Hawara.

And what did Netanyahu's allies do?

exactly the opposite.

The chairman of the internal security committee in the Knesset, MK Zvika Vogel from Otzma Yehudit, was interviewed the next morning, said he was satisfied with the "deterrent effect".

Later in the week, Finance Minister Smotrich went further and said that in his view the government should "delete Hvara".

Both of them tried to deny the things after a while with awkward impudence, but the archive remembers everything and the damage has already been done.

The United States issued a strong condemnation of Smotrich and demanded that the Prime Minister disavow the words of his senior partner in the government.

Meanwhile, such a clarification has not yet been published.

In the economic sector, on the other hand, Netanyahu actually published a clarification this week, that is, another clarification in the chain of clarifications about the independence of the Bank of Israel in the face of statements by government members.

This time it was Finance Committee Chairman Moshe Gafni who, in a show of muscle for his dissatisfaction with the budget, decided to publish a bill to freeze interest rates, while Netanyahu and Smotrich are still busy cleaning up the coalition members' previous political attacks on the governor, for fear of damaging the economy. While Netanyahu is trying to stabilize the The international headlines excited by the legal revolution, his allies do theirs and whistle at his word.

Netanyahu also published a clarification for himself this week.

Less than 24 hours after the speech of lies he gave on Wednesday against the opponents of the reform, which included writing history about the secession, conspiratorial accusations of foreign funding, and an unfounded comparison between the democracy demonstrators and the lawbreakers in Hawara, the Prime Minister's office disowned the comparison.

The belligerent speech, delivered during the "National Disruption Day" in which unprecedented violence was recorded by the police forces, was supposed to be much calmer and conciliatory from the start.

Worried about the growing protests and the gloomy economic forecasts, Netanyahu considered declaring a ceasefire and announcing a few days of stoppage for the needs of talks and relaxation.

According to a report by Sefi Ovadia in News 13, Justice Minister Yariv Levin vetoed even one day of the delay.

Netanyahu and Justice Minister Yariv Levin both denied the report as "fake news", but it reflects the current political situation: even if the Prime Minister wants to stop the gallop of reform and order a compromise - Justice Minister, Constitutional Committee Chair Simcha Rothman and his ultra-Orthodox partners The government will have a wall erected in front of him in the form of a wall. Even if Netanyahu intended at some point to give a reassuring speech - the words that eventually came out of his mouth will only increase the protest.

So will the attempt by the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gabir to suppress it with excessive police force. The demonstrators who came out tomorrow evening will protest The shock grenade thrown by the police officer in Tel Aviv is no less, if not more, than against the legal revolution. On the other hand, the grotesque barber shop incident that his wife Sara Netanyahu got into in Madinah Square will only exacerbate the atmosphere at home and reduce Netanyahu's space for conversation and relaxation.

In the week in which the sixth Netanyahu government marked two months to its establishment, all the unfolding events are signs of great weakness of the prime minister.

Netanyahu promised governance, but fails to govern even in his government and his immediate environment, and acts against his own interests.

Even his other promises - to fight the cost of living, to fight Iran and to expand the circle of peace - the conduct of his government endangers.

Netanyahu was supposed to have his hands on the wheel, but his extremist partners are the ones who steer him and the direction the country is going.
