The problems with the drainage of surface water in Rockelfing, which result in unnecessary additional costs for the Wartenberg market and are also harmful to the sewage treatment plant, are to be eliminated quickly.

This was decided unanimously by the market council at its meeting on Wednesday evening.

Wartenberg - Good for the tight municipal coffers: The funds are provided in the budget for the current year.

Mathias Kaesler has been a sewage technician in Wartenberg for around six months and has "discovered many construction sites" since then, praised Mayor Christian Pröbst (CSU).

So also the problem in Rockelfing.

According to Kaesler, the waste water is discharged there via a separation system.

Precipitation and surface water comes into the Strogen via the rainwater sewer, and actually only dirty water may be routed through the appropriate sewer to the sewage treatment plant.

However, inventories have now shown that a large part of the street drainage is connected to the waste water sewer.

An average of around 650,000 liters of precipitation falls per year, which is pumped to the sewage treatment plant.

This causes additional operating costs there.

Another problem of incorrect connection occurs when the Strogen is flooded.

According to Kaesler, the water then runs permanently via the street gullies into the sewage system, bringing the pumping station and sewage treatment plant to their maximum capacity and beyond.

Pumps could be damaged.

A sewage treatment plant needs material to be able to work, and not just water, as Pröbst put it.

According to Kaesler, for the proper separation of the system, 90 meters of new sewage must now be laid, separating the street drainage from the dirty water and connecting it to the rainwater sewer.

The situation is aggravated by the fact that the showman's sewage connections on the fairground are also connected to the dirty water.

At the fairground, a remedy can be found by installing a central waste water valve before it is discharged into the dirty water.

As a rule, it remains closed and is only opened for events.

The gross costs for him are 5,500 euros, together with the 90 meters of sewer, a total of 44,000 euros is due.

A sewage sewer with rainwater overflow: "That's a contradiction in terms," Kaesler criticized the current situation.

He allayed fears that future additional rainwater fed into the Strogen could fuel flooding.

The amounts are too small for that.

Among other things, FWG Councilor Franz Ganslmaier, who has worked professionally with the sewage treatment plant for many years, spoke out in favor of taking action: "Every cubic meter of external water costs money," he said.

And Franz Gerstner (CSU), who celebrated his birthday on the day of the meeting, demanded: "We should do it as soon as possible."
