Amir Bartora, 53 years old, calls on the parties to come to an understanding urgently • "My fear is that the lack of dialogue could lead us to civil war and economic collapse"

Protest against the legal reform:

After the "National Disruption Day" events that took place last Wednesday, thousands of citizens are protesting at this time across the country, this is the ninth week in a row.

Amir Bartora, 53 years old, started a protest vigil and a hunger strike this evening near the President's residence in order to bring about talks between the parties on the legal reform.

Bartora, who plans to travel and protest across the country, told Israel Hayom: "The reform as it is currently being carried out leads to a split in the nation which is more dangerous than anything. My fear is that the lack of dialogue could lead us to fratricidal war and economic collapse. I am here to call on the leaders to wake up, give up on the ego and to sit down to a dialogue in order to reach as broad an agreement as possible. I start today and intend to go the length and breadth of the country. I announced a month of civil reserves. I issued myself an order 8."

Efforts are being made

As I recall, the efforts of the negotiations continue to be a significant and central goal of a variety of economic and political factors.

Last Monday, the President met with representatives from research institutes and lawyers for an in-depth discussion on the issue and to bring about as broad an agreement as possible regarding the reform of the judicial system.

Three days ago, Knesset members Danny Danon and Yuli Edelstein from the Likud, and Gadi Eisenkot and Hili Trooper from the state camp, signed a letter in which they called for a discussion based on the principles of the outline presented by President Herzog.

From the conversations between the MKs from the state camp and their colleagues in Likud, it appears that apart from the MKs from the ruling party who declared their support, other MKs in Likud support the move, but are afraid to join. In the recent primaries, they expressed support for stopping the legislation and negotiations - but were afraid to voice their opinion.
