Seven people were killed as a result of the storms that led to tornadoes and torrential rains that swept across the southern United States yesterday.
Reuters quoted the National Weather Service as saying that the strong storm had moved to the northeast, and would cause heavy snow from southeastern Michigan to New York State, and areas of central New York and southern New England could see more than 30 centimeters of snow by noon today.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said that at least two tornadoes caused by the storm swept through the western region of the state, noting that the storms raised winds of 128.75 kilometers per hour.
Authorities said more than 1.4 million homes and businesses were without power in the states affected by the storm.
