A 55-year-old man who was admitted to the Wolfson Hospital in Holon due to a chronic illness, died today (Saturday), apparently as a result of an allergic reaction to the drug ceftriaxone.
After the incident, the Ministry of Health ordered to stop the use of the preparation from the same production.
Ceftriaxone is an antibiotic given intravenously to treat pneumonia.
It was not known about the patients' early sensitivity to the drug, and following the cases the Ministry of Health ordered an investigation to see if there were other similar events after using it.
A few months ago, another woman who was hospitalized at Asuta Hospital in Ashdod died after developing an allergic reaction to the medicine.
Another case occurred at the sheltered housing Beit Belev in Arad, where a female patient developed a mild allergic reaction that manifested itself in a rash.
