The Directorate of Agriculture of Homs carried out a family planting campaign in Al-Makhram area within the guidelines of (Al-Makhram Al-Tahtani, Umm Al-Amad and Al-Sankari).
In a statement to SANA, the Director of Homs Agriculture, Engineer Younes Hamdan, indicated that the campaign comes within the framework of the forest afforestation plan and under the slogan (Love.. Giving.. Growth), as 1,200 saplings were distributed by allocating five different forest saplings for each citizen free of charge, including pine and cypress saplings. And almonds and azdoracht to be cultivated in his land and home garden, as part of lists that were organized through the extension units and sent to the Forestry Department.
Hamdan indicated that so far the total distributed within the Five Plants Campaign has reached 55,500 saplings, 35,070 saplings from Al-Aridah Forestry Centers, 14,650 saplings from Al-Bureij, 4700 Tair Maala, and 1080 saplings from Tal Ward, which were distributed to the villages of the governorate.
Hamdan added that 15,000 Indian and Japanese mulberry seedlings were also distributed free of charge in the villages of Khirbet al-Hamam, Sad al-Muzaina and Uzair, with the aim of reviving silkworm breeding in Homs governorate.
The Director of Homs Agriculture confirmed that those who wish to obtain five forest seedlings or Indian and Japanese berries should review the nearest extension unit or forestry center to organize lists and allocate means for transporting them according to paths.
