The City Government carried out a
mega-operation during the early hours of this Saturday
in the surroundings of the Retiro station, to initiate an improvement plan with the aim of "recovering" the public space, an opportunity in which they
evicted the street vendors
who located in that area.
The
works
, which
will last for 60 days
, include making new sidewalks, reinforcing lighting and security, repaving the streets and there will be better green spaces.
According to what was indicated by the Buenos Aires Executive, the works of "reorganization in the public space" in Retiro have the purpose of
"recovering, ordering and maintaining the environment to make it safer."
The
mega-operation
, which involves personnel from the ministries of Security, Public Space and Urban Hygiene and the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works, was carried out
"without incidents."
The works will be carried out within 60 days.

From the Buenos Aires administration they indicated that the enhancement of the area
will improve the circulation of the 200,000 people
who move daily in that area where the train stations, subways and more than 28 bus lines arrive.

The improvement plan contemplates the
replacement and maintenance of newspaper and flower stands
that are not in good condition, resurfacing of the road and all the horizontal demarcation on 9 blocks of Ramos Mejía Avenue, added to tasks of patching and horizontal demarcation on the Avenue of the Liberator.
4,500 square meters of sidewalks
will be intervened
, the double luminaires in the central docks of Ramos Mejía Avenue will be replaced and work will be done on pedestrian lighting in existing columns on Avenida del Libertador, on the railway sidewalk.
They will bolster lighting and security, repave the streets, and have better green spaces.

There will also be a specific
hygiene plan
for the Avenida Ramos Mejía route where the collection service was doubled, containers will be relocated, there will be hydro-washing tasks on sidewalks and roads.
Once the works are finished, the City Government affirms that there will be "greater presence of security forces in the area."

Bus stops and taxis will be moved
While the work is carried out,
7 bus stops on lines 28, 70, 75, 92, 100, 101 and 150 will be moved
, as well as those for
taxis.
Two lanes will be assigned along Ramos Mejía Avenue so that pedestrians can circulate safely and
only the lateral accesses of the San Martín and Belgrano Norte railways will be enabled
.
The Miter Line reduced its route due to works and does not reach the Retiro station.
More than 50 traffic agents will be present, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., in four different locations for the ordering of vehicular circulation.
