In continuation of the work that began years ago on the project to develop the work environment of non-governmental organizations in Syria, under the auspices and supervision of the First Lady Asma al-Assad, which aims to empower non-governmental organizations and strengthen their role, and create an appropriate and effective environment for them to be a real and effective partner with government and private sector institutions in areas of recovery, reconstruction and development work in Syria.

Based on the participatory approach and the in-depth dialogue adopted by the project since its inception between non-governmental organizations in Syria and other sectors, primarily governmental, two dialogue workshops were held in Damascus on the “Taharuk” platform, the national platform for non-governmental organizations, which is considered one of the pillars of the project and its implementation tools. The first workshop In partnership with the Federation of Charitable Associations in Damascus, and the second workshop in partnership with the Ahl al-Sham Initiative Foundation in rural Damascus, in the amphitheater of the Association of Graduates of Commercial Institutes in Damascus, where the director of non-governmental organizations in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor gave a presentation of the platform explaining the importance of launching the national platform for non-governmental organizations to support The activity of these organizations, pointing out that the platform enables activating networking and exchanging experiences between organizations in order to achieve the integration of services provided to the target groups, and noted that the platform is a platform for communication between organizations and allows access to legislation, laws, decisions and circulars related to their work.

Inquiries and observations were heard from the participating NGOs about the content of the presentation, and all inquiries were answered through interactive discussions that included proposals about the platform that will be taken into consideration.

Maysa Raslan, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Ahl al-Sham Initiative Foundation, explained the importance of this platform in activating participatory work between associations within a single plan and methodology, pointing out that the workshop aims to listen to the opinion of stakeholders, and to add any proposal that could contribute to the development of the platform.

Louay Al-Munajid, a consultant at the Federation of Charitable Associations in Damascus, said that the platform is a step to organize the work of the civil sector and activate its partnership with the rest of the sectors, pointing to the presence of cadres from the Federation that can help other organizations wishing to use the platform.
