The task force of the Enforcement and Control Team of the Kowloon East Regional Traffic Department launched an operation to combat drink driving and drug driving in the region last night (March 4).
During the operation, when patrolling Kwun Tong Road near Fuk Tao Street at about 11:30 p.m., members of the task force found a private car acting suspiciously and stopped it.
After preliminary investigation, the 41-year-old male driver surnamed Yang failed the rapid oral fluid test.
Officers seized a package of about 1.5 grams of suspected marijuana in the car, with a market value of about 400 yuan.
The male driver was arrested on suspicion of "possession of drugs" and "driving under the influence of drugs" and is currently being detained for investigation.
In addition, officers stopped another 37-year-old driver surnamed Xiao male in the area. He failed the alcohol breath test and was arrested for "drink driving".

The police appeal to all motorists that driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, speeding and dangerous driving are serious crimes. Once convicted, they may be sentenced to imprisonment and suspension of license.
The Police will continue to step up law enforcement actions to crack down on related offenses and protect the safety of the public. Drivers should not defy the law.
