US medical authorities have recorded at least 26 million cases of infection, 290,000 hospitalizations, and 18,000 flu-related deaths so far in the United States this season.
According to the latest estimates published by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 117 flu-related deaths among children were recorded this season.
According to (CDC), the number and weekly rate of influenza-related hospitalizations in the country continued to decline, as 1,500 influenza-related hospitalizations were recorded during the last week ending on February 25.
In light of this, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that everyone aged 6 months and older receive the annual influenza vaccine, as long as the influenza virus continues to circulate.
