The mayor of Giarratana, Lino Giaquinta, speaks of an
"inexplicable tragedy, meaningless and without any motivation",
of a "shocked and grieved" community and announces "a torchlight vigil with the parish to be close to the family in this moment of such atrocious pain" and "the proclamation of mourning for the city on the day of the funeral".
