Eleven people were killed as a result of the powerful snowstorm that swept across five US states.
NBC News quoted the authorities as saying: 11 people died in five states after a series of storms with devastating winds hit the region, including 5 in Kentucky, one in Tennessee, three in Alabama, one in Arkansas, and one in Mississippi. .
Snow covered parts of New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, causing dozens of cars, trucks and trailers to slide off the roads, and strong winds caused a number of trees to fall and power outages.
