Three children died this Friday allegedly stabbed by their mother, who also injured two other of her children in a town south of Dallas, Texas, according to WFAA-TV, an ABC News affiliate.
Paramedics went to the scene of the crime after receiving a call at a house in Italy, in Ellis County, around 4 p.m., Agent Jerry Cozby of the Sheriff's Office said at a press conference, according to the Telemundo affiliate in Dallas.
When they arrived at the scene, they found
three dead minors inside a residence
and
two less injured
who were taken to hospitals by helicopter, according to KTVT-TV.
A
woman was in custody
after the stabbing, WFAA-TV reported, noting that
the woman was the mother of the five children.

Authorities did not give the ages of the fatalities but sources consulted by WFAA-TV told the outlet that
the children were in elementary school.
The Child Protective Services
office
visited the home and quickly reported the attack to the Ellis County Sheriff's Office, the outlet added.
“We are shocked by this
incomprehensible tragedy
and are already working with authorities to investigate how and why this happened,” the office said in a statement shared with WFAA.
Agency sources told the aforementioned outlet that the mother allegedly stabbed her children when a worker who suspected the woman was having unsupervised visits with her children arrived on the scene to check without prior notice.
The children had previously been placed by the agency under the guardianship of another relative.
Authorities have not publicly confirmed this.

Neighbors expressed their dismay at the death of minors.
"I will never forget this day
," Shamelia Anderson told the local Telemundo, which she claimed to be close to the children's family.
She pointed out that that same morning she had taken them to a fast food joint and they shared the day together.
"We are all very sad
," added Irene Rodríguez, also a neighbor of the area whose children study at the same school where the deceased and injured children studied.
Police said they will post updates on what happened as the investigation progresses.

On the other hand, in downtown Los Angeles six people were stabbed early this Saturday morning and a 28-year-old man was arrested, according to CBS.
Los Angeles police responded around 2:13 am after learning that during the confrontation with two groups of people on the street, the suspect began stabbing multiple victims.
They were taken to the hospital and appear to be stable, added the aforementioned media.
