A soldier was arrested tonight (Sunday) at the Ranthis crossing, near Ramallah, with two Palestinians in his vehicle.
According to the suspicion, he tried to bring the two into Israel without a residence permit, and illegally.
The soldier, who was in civilian clothes and was not on duty, was handed over to the police for investigation.
Last June, two people staying illegally in south Tel Aviv were arrested, fearing that they might carry out "hostile activity".
IDF and Shin Bet fighters arrested the two Palestinians, residents of Nablus, after they entered Israel and there was concern that they might carry out an attack.
The two were transferred to the Shin Bet investigation to clarify the circumstances of their entry into Israel.

That same week, the security forces arrested two wanted persons suspected of transporting illegal residents in the Seam area, and a week earlier a suspect was arrested who drove two residents of the areas into Israel - they were also arrested and veils, gloves and money were seized during a search of the suspects' vehicle.
A few days before, five illegal residents were arrested near Orani.
Four suspects hid in the bushes and waited for the fifth suspect to drive them across the separation fence, in a vehicle with an Israeli license plate.
