had a promising debut in the Indy Car Series in a bumpy race that took place in the street circuit of Saint Petersburg.

The Argentine showed a better performance than expected.

He not only emerged unscathed from the multiple crashes that occurred in the demanding 100 laps, but he finished 12th in the Dallara of Juncos Hollinger Racing.

The winner of the test was the Swede Marcus Ericsson, from Chip Ganassi Racing.

Canapino had stated in the preview that the goal was to finish the race, even if it was in last place.

But the Titan found a more complicated scenario than expected since, over and over again, the test presented obstacles out of context due to the multiple crashes that took place from lap 1. Thus, the first achievement was being able to cross the flag squared.

And 12th place ends up being a great showing.

The Argentine driver was more than 28 seconds behind the winner but crossed the checkered flag as the second best rookie in the demanding IndyCar.

Callum Ilott, the teammate of the multi-champion of Argentine motor racing, finished 5th.

Ericsson was the winner in the first round of the 2023 season. The Swede overtook the Mexican Pato O'Ward (Arrow McLaren) with four laps to go and won the top prize.

The podium was completed by the New Zealander Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi).

Ericsson passed O'Ward on the long home straight after the Mexican activated the speed limiter by mistake and lost power to his car.

They were the survivors of a turbulent race with up to eleven cars involved in accidents that failed to finish the grand prix.

In St. Petersburg, six yellow and three red flags were displayed.

The debut of Agustín Canapino was magnificent for the specialists, since the twelfth position exceeded by far the expectation of finishing the race.

As a result of the savage accident that occurred at the start of the competition, five cars were left out.

Incredibly, the red flag appeared with only twenty-five seconds left.

Two Meyer Shank Racing cars driven by Brazilian Helio Castroneves and Frenchman Simon Pagenaud were involved in the multiple crash.

Canapino loosened by centimeters.

The two vehicles of the Foyt Enterprises team with the American Santino Ferrucci and the Danish Benjamin Pedersen, as well as the Andretti of the Canadian Devlin DeFrancesco, which was the car that was thrown into the air, did not follow either.

In addition to Canapino, several other single-seaters dodged the multiple accident by a few centimeters and the image of Conor Daly sticking his wheels to the wall to escape the collision was truly impressive.

The battle between the two Andrettis set the pulse at the start of the race, with the Frenchman Romain Grosjean, with a past in F1, and Colton Herta signing several fastest laps that gradually distanced them from the rest of the competitors.

O'Ward was the third classified alone after them and acted as a stopper for the chasing group made up of two Ganassi, Ericsson's and Spaniard Palou's, who finally finished eighth.

Grosjean's first pit stop was on lap 32, when Scott McLaughlin took advantage of this to move into the lead, a position he held for the second part of the race.

The strategy in changing tires and the moment chosen for it were key.

This is how the previous Canapino lived
