2023-03-05T14:30:28.583Z

After a year in which most car importers suffered from inventory problems, the local car market recorded a jump in deliveries with 76,328 new vehicles hitting the road since the beginning of the year. Chinese and electric cars continue to grow

The Automobile Importers Association publishes the new vehicle delivery data for the month of February, indicating 29,132 new vehicles that hit the road in the past month and a total of 76,328 new vehicles that hit the road since the beginning of 2023. This figure indicates a 21.7% jump in deliveries compared to the same period last year, and a return to activity Impressive among some of the importers who suffered last year from inventory problems due to the global chip crisis and problems in the supply chain.

In addition, the growth of new car brands from China is contributing as currently 12,381 cars manufactured in China have hit the roads since the beginning of the year, compared to South Korea where 12,774 cars came from and Japan with 11,212 cars.

The electrified cars also continue to gain momentum, when one out of three cars that hit the road since the beginning of the year (24,773 cars and a market share of 32.4%) was equipped with an electric engine.

In breakdown by type, these are 10,193 fully electric cars (BEV), 9,564 hybrid cars (HEV) and 4,286 plug-in cars (PHEV).

At the same time, it should be remembered that the impressive delivery figures of the beginning of the year, which include thousands of orders made in the last quarter of the year, do not yet indicate the continuation of the year and a significant increase in car prices, together with the frequent interest rate increases and signs of an economic slowdown may cool the celebration a bit.

There are slight changes at the top of the vehicle deliveries table, with Hyundai continuing to safely lead sales since the beginning of the year with 12,935 deliveries, ahead of Kia, which weakened and delivered 8,264 cars, with Mazda surprising and climbing to third place with 6,284 deliveries.

Toyota plunges by 36.7% to 5,942 deliveries due to significant supply problems and BYD closes the top five with 4,589 deliveries and the title of "the best-selling electric car in Israel" since the beginning of the year.

Rounding out the top ten are Skoda with 3,380 passes, Mitsubishi with 3,221 passes, Chery with 3,044 passes, Citroen with 2,334 passes and Suzuki with 2,259 passes.

The luxury market is led by Mercedes with 1,802 deliveries and by a large margin from Audi which is growing again with 1,113 deliveries.

BMW is third with 775 passes, ahead of Volvo, which strengthens with 618 passes, and Lexus, which closes the opening five with 418 passes.

At the end of the luxury brands, Porsche delivered 75 cars, Maserati 21 cars, Ferrari with 6 deliveries, Bentley with 4 deliveries and Aston Martin with a pair of deliveries.
