The Egyptian singer Sharifa Fadel passed away this morning at the age of 85, after a struggle with illness.

The artist, who achieved wide fame in the seventies and eighties of the last century, was born in Cairo in 1938, and studied at the hands of professors of religious chanting and music to later join the Institute of Performing Arts, and appeared for the first time on the screen in the movie The Father in 1947, and worked for a short period on the radio with the famous journalist. Papa Charu.

The musician, Mohamed Al-Muji, presented her with her first songs, “Amanah, Don’t Make Me Stay Up, O Virgin.” She was distinguished by singing the popular template that opened the doors for her to fame, and she cooperated with composer and singer Mounir Murad, who presented her with a large group of songs, including Haret Al-Saqqayyin, Falah, Sheikh Masoud, Al-Layl, and Ah of Patience, as she worked with Great composers such as Riyad Al-Sunbati, Baligh Hamdi, Sayed Makkawi and Mahmoud Al-Sharif.

In the seventies, her song Umm al-Batal, written by Nabila Qandil and composed by Ali Ismail, was a great success, which she sang after the martyrdom of her son, Sayed al-Sayyid Badir, in the October War of 1973.

Fadel established a famous variety theater on Haram Street, and gave concerts in many Arab countries, including Tunisia, Lebanon and Kuwait, and participated in a number of cinematic films and presented some musical plays.
