The branch of the General Organization for Seed Multiplication in Hama distributed about 450 tons of imported foreign potato seeds to the subscribed farmers from the spring season for the current season.
The branch manager, Eng. Louay Al-Husari, indicated to SANA’s reporter today that the entire quantity subscribed for by farmers has been distributed of Spunta, Agria, Synergy, Arizona, and Everest varieties, indicating that the subscribed varieties are of good quality and were subjected to laboratory tests by specialized committees late last year.
Al-Husari pointed out that the prices of imported seeds in the General Organization for Seed Multiplication are lower than the local market, which prompted farmers to subscribe to them in good quantities, indicating that the operations of planting potatoes in the lands of the governorate during the spring harvest are nearing completion.
On the other hand, Al-Husari indicated that the sales of sterilized and sifted wheat seeds to the governorate’s farmers continue until the end of this month, when farmers can buy seeds from agricultural banks or directly from the branch, indicating that the quantities of wheat seeds sold by the branch since the beginning of the season to date amounted to 17 One thousand and 813 tons.
