During the ESC preliminary decision, there was a sudden loss on the expert couch: Where is Florian Silbereisen's next-seat Ilse DeLange?

Cologne – The German song at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 on May 13th will be loud: The glam rockers from Lord Of The Lost from Hamburg have prevailed in the preliminary round - also against other co-favorites such as Ballermann-Bollerer Ikke Hipgold.

The “German final” was moderated by ESC icon Barbara Schöneberger.

And she wasn't alone on her couch.

ESC preliminary decision: Ilse DeLange suddenly disappeared from the couch – where did the Silbereisen sitter go?

A colorful trio took a seat next to the 48-year-old and contributed analyses: first hit entertainer Florian Silbereisen.

Second singer Ilse DeLange, 2014 second at the ESC with The Common Linnets for the Netherlands and also known to TV viewers from "Let's Dance" and "Deutschland sucht den Superstar".

Bird of paradise Riccardo Simonetti sat next to him in a spectacular dress.

But well, after the fifth of the eight contributions, the quartet suddenly shrunk.

When Schöneberger announced the singer-songwriter Will Church, DeLange was still sitting on the sofa.

After his appearance there were only three - and Simonetti slipped into place next to Silbereisen.

ESC preliminary decision: Disappearance of Ilse DeLange leaves viewers puzzled

Numerous ESC fans asked themselves this question on Twitter.

"Where did Ilse DeLange actually go?", It was asked promptly.

And because the Eurovision Song Contest tends to be a little more moody, many were quick to speculate: did the Dutchwoman have to do something urgently, didn't anyone?

And it took a little longer?

"Ilse on the toilet break for a very long time," wrote one user.

But another suspicion was much more widespread - namely whether the 45-year-old simply couldn't stand it any longer in the ESC preliminary round.

"Ilse DeLange has already run away?

Isn't it all that bad now?!" It said.

"Ilse DeLange is tired?" and "Has Ilse DeLange given up?" others said.

Several users saw a connection with the not undisputed appearance of party hit chav Ikke Hipgold: "Ilse DeLange fled the studio during Ikke's performance" and "Disappeared after Ikke, seriously, I don't blame her, I would have been pissed that too." the NDR allows this rubbish on stage. "Not quite true - because DeLange had already made the exit a song before Ikke Hipgold.

Another user also suspected that Ilse DeLange could have fled – but for a different reason: "Could Ilse DeLange no longer endure Florian and Barbara's flirting?

Or where is it?

ESC preliminary decision: Ilse DeLange was probably just preparing for her performance

One of them actually had a realistic reason ready: "Clever move by Ilse de Lange to mix up early from the celebrity sofa in preparation for her performance.

Save her annoying conversations with Ms. Schöneberger.” Because more than half an hour after her secret farewell, Ilse DeLange reappeared – on stage!

To perform a song together with The BossHoss before the voting phase.

"The woman who was just sitting on the sofa with us is now on stage," Schöneberger announced, "in an incredible dress, together with our absolute favorite cowboys." Ilse DeLange just needed time to get used to her to finish the show.
