Greece: mourning and anger after a train tragedy

STORY - A collision between two trains, which claimed the lives of 57 people, weakens the Conservative government.

Nearly a week after the head-on collision of two trains which killed 57 people in Larissa (350 km from Athens), the majority of them young people, Greece is still in a state of shock.

The rallies in memory of the victims follow one another in all the major cities of the country under the slogan:

"Call me when you arrive"

, the phrase of a mother waiting for her child whose body was calcined in the pulverized wagons.

The press lists the names, and publishes photos and stories of the victims as the state-sponsored funeral begins.

Everyone is trying to understand how this railway tragedy, one of the worst the country has ever known, happened.

Justice has opened an investigation by hearing the station master of Larissa station, who, according to several testimonies, is not his first referral fault.
