There has been a "site rat" theft gang on Lantau Island. The thieves have been dispatched to steal property on the site several times in the past three months. After an in-depth investigation by the Criminal Headquarters of the New Territories South Region of the police, the thieves were found sneaking into the expansion site of the North Lantau Hospital in the early hours of yesterday (4th). He planned to steal lightning protection copper sheets with a market value of about 180,000 yuan, and then handed them over to his accomplices to try to transport them away, so he took action and arrested a total of three men. After investigation, they suspected that the three men were related to 10 other land theft cases that occurred on Lantau Island. , the case with the largest loss amounted to 500,000 yuan, involving the theft of 140 canal covers.
Two of the arrested men were working at the recycling yard. The police emphasized that the arrests are still going on and that more arrests are not ruled out.
