The father of the former president died on Saturday March 4 at the age of 94, news that the former head of state had been expecting for some time.

"RIP Pal Sarkozy de Nagy Bocsa, May 5, 1928-March 4, 2023. Rest in peace," wrote Carla Bruni on Sunday, posting two portraits of Pal Sarkozy, one of which is striking in its resemblance to one of his three sons: Nicolas Sarkozy.
Born May 5, 1928 in Budapest, Pal Sarkozy would later become a painter before marrying Andrée Mallah in 1950. Based in Paris, the couple had three children, Guillaume (1951), Nicolas (1955) then François (1957) .
Former President Nicolas Sarkozy was particularly close to his mother, "Dadu", who died in 2017.
