A 49-year-old man surnamed Luo called the police today (5th), claiming that he responded to a stranger’s recruitment information via WhatsApp earlier, and earned commissions by acting as a brusher on a fake website to increase the click-through rate and reputation of the goods.
According to the instructions, Luo Nan deposited about 80,000 yuan into the account designated by the other party to complete the task. Later, he called the Police Anti-Fraud Coordination Center, suspected that he had been cheated, and called the police.
After a preliminary investigation by the police, the case was classified as "acquisition of property by deception", and it was handed over to the fifth team of the Criminal Investigation Team of the Kowloon City Police District for follow-up. No one has been arrested yet.
The police pointed out that the job advertisements of scammers generally claim to be "quick money", "high labor", "same day pay" or "work from home". The age and education requirements of applicants are low, and the actual position or job content is not mentioned. , and only provide instant messaging software or mobile phone number contact methods.
Some scammers even pay commissions to gain trust after the victim deposits for the first time.
