Following the incident, "Israel Hayom" contacted a city employee in the hotel industry in Eilat who said that this was a well-known loophole.

"Only during the check-in process does the receptionist ask for identification from the guest, but if a guest comes to the reception and claims he lost a key or any other excuse and he gives the room number and name, he gets a new key. It happens everywhere. There is no control over it. It can to end in an obscene act, in rape, in theft of objects and even in murder."
