Today, the activities of the Damascus Dental Health Days began, and they will continue until the seventh of this month, in the Al-Assad Library in Damascus.

The 29 lectures focus on diseases of the tissues around the teeth, pathological anatomy of the mouth, face and jaws and their surgery, and orthodontics, accompanied by a medical exhibition of the latest medical supplies for the specialty of dentistry.

The Assistant Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Damiriya, explained in his speech during the opening the importance of the event in terms of creating spaces and greater opportunities for communication and exchange of information between doctors and health workers, developing expertise and learning about everything new in various specialties, indicating that the Ministry provides oral health services for free despite the high costs through 727 clinics in health centers in various governorates, in addition to qualitative specialized centers that provide treatment services such as jaw surgery, orthodontics, periodontics and treatment.

Damascus Health Director, Dr. Muhammad Samer Shahrour, explained that the scientific days aim to exchange medical experiences, in order to provide the best diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients, pointing out that they include a poster competition for distinguished clinical cases in dentistry dedicated to resident doctors, with the aim of highlighting them so that the most appropriate case can then be selected. Distinctive according to certain medical criteria.

Head of the Pathological Anatomy Department at the College of Dentistry, Dr. Nabil Qushji, explained that during his lecture he presented clinical cases from the pathological anatomy laboratory of the mouth, face and jaws, and how to diagnose and manage each case according to its specificity, pointing out that the practice of this specialty requires great privacy and a clinical impression for each doctor.

The specialist in dentistry, Dr. Rola Ezz El-Din, indicated that the session that she chaired included tumors of the jaws and the need to conduct laboratory tests for biopsies taken from them, explaining that only 10 percent of the lesions that appear in the mouth are malignant and must be treated and diagnosed early, to ensure that they do not develop and reach a dangerous stage. .

Among the participants in the poster competition, the resident orthodontist, Dr. Asmaa Jaradi, explained that the case she presented about correcting a gummy smile by means of a mobile device and the complete implantation of the jaw was characterized by positive results.
