Ronit, Yigal Toito's sister, accused the medical staff of not paying attention to the marking because her brother was marked as allergic. The Wolfson Medical Center clarified that during his hospitalization, Toito said that he was allergic to something, but did not know why, and there was no documentation of this in the file. The nurse added: "We were not told anything about what happened"

Ronit, the sister of Yigal Toito who died yesterday (Saturday) following an allergic reaction to the antibiotics he received while being treated at the hospital, claimed in a conversation with Walla!

Because he had already been labeled as allergic to this type of medicine, but "no one noticed or addressed it, and we gave it to him anyway - that's how he died."

The hospital clarified that during his hospitalization in the emergency room, Toito said he was allergic, but could not say why, so he was given an allergen bracelet.

"No one talked to us, and we were not told anything about what happened. He was hospitalized several times in the past and we gave him this medicine," continued the nurse.

"We are angry at the hospital, he was only 55 years old, he has five children, the youngest of whom is eight years old. If they are unable to take care of him - they should say so. The problem is not the medicine, as the Ministry of Health says, but the conduct of the hospital."

Marked as allergic, but no record.

The Wolfson Hospital stated: "We are sorry for the tragic incident and we feel the pain of the family. The patient indicated that he had some kind of allergy but could not say why. We thoroughly checked the medical records, both at the hospital and at the health insurance fund, and found no documentation of an allergy and certainly no documentation of an allergy to the drug In addition, the patient received the drug in question many times, as part of treatments he received at the hospital due to his chronic illness.

"Since he verbally stated that he thought he had some sort of allergy, our team put a red bracelet on his wrist as an extra precaution.

Our skilled team handled it very professionally, quickly and while meticulously checking every step of the process.

Unfortunately, at this stage we did not have any information about the previous cases of allergic reaction of other patients in the various hospitals to this drug.

We reported the incident immediately to the Ministry of Health.

We hope that thanks to our quick reporting we will be able to prevent further tragic cases."

Yesterday, the Ministry of Health ordered to stop using antibiotics, following the death.

Ceftriaxone is an antibiotic given intravenously to treat pneumonia.

It was not known about the patients' early sensitivity to the drug, and following the incident the Ministry of Health ordered an investigation to see if there were other similar events after using it.

A few months ago, another woman who was hospitalized at Asuta Hospital in Ashdod died after developing an allergic reaction to the medicine.

Another case occurred at the sheltered housing Beit Belev in Arad, where a female patient developed a mild allergic reaction that manifested itself in a rash.
